Shaukat Kaifi is an Indian activist and stage and film actor. She was married to poet, Kaifi Azmi, and through her career associated with the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA), the Progressive Writers Association and Prithvi Theatre.[1]

Early life

Shaukhat Kaifi was born in Hyderabad State in a noble family.

Career

Shaukhat Kaifi married noted Urdu language poet, Kaifi Azmi. They had two children together, Shabana Azmi (b. 1950), a renowned actress of Indian cinema and Baba Azmi, a noted cameraman, and is part of the Akhtar-Azmi family. She is a Indian People's Theatre Association stage actress), and member of the Communist Party of India.
